Boblbee, the iPod solar charger from Dododi in Japan is not only green and cool. It is also shock proof and water proof which is great when you are “out in the field” doing some dirty work or just hiking in the mountains. Heck, you can even just use it in your window at home.
Another good design aspect is that this solar charger has rounded panels. That means you can charge your iPod out in the sun the whole day long without moving it around.
Sounds great? Yes it really does. There is just one problem. The solar charger is only sold in Japan and I have no idea what kind of shipping and price it has. The translated version is kind of funny to read. Anyone from Japan that can help!?

Green Web Hosting.
Last week we asked you here on the blog to take contact with a “dirty” web host and ask them what they do or what they are planning to do to help fight global warming. Thanks for all the responses, keep them coming!
Here are a few of the responses you guys and girls have sent us:
HostGator
Please wait for a HostGator operator to respond.
Welcome to HostGator Live Chat! You are now chatting with ‘Cody’
Cody: Welcome to HostGator, how may I assist you?
Josh: Hi
Josh: I am looking around for a new web host. Hostgator looks perfect but before I decide anything I would like to know what you, as a company do to help stop global warming?
Cody: One moment please.
Josh: Sure.
Cody: I really don’t know of anything we do as a company to stop global warming.
Josh: Ohhh. Thats to bad. :/
Josh: Then I guess Hostgator is not an option for me. Thank you for your time.
Cody: Well I’m sorry to hear that, we just don’t really have anything organized at this time.
Cody: But I will pass this along to our management.
Josh: That would be a good idea Cody, thanks.

Global Warming.

The Guardian and A&C Black published a few weeks ago a set of amazing and scary set of satellite images that shows our destructive impact on our planet.
A selection of spectacular satellite images, featured in Earth from Space, published by the Guardian and A&C Black, clearly shows man’s devastating impact on our planet, from the disappearing Aral Sea to deforestation in Brazil, urban growth in Dallas and light pollution across the globe.
The image above is an image of deforestation in Ghana:
Deforestation in southwestern Ghana and southeastern Cote d’Ivoire to make way for cocoa production. The darker geometric shapes show the few remaining standing forests.

Green Blogging.
On October 15th over 4,000 blogs and websites with an audience of over 3,400,000 people will be talking about our environment. Some of these sites and blogs will also be donating their day earnings to an environmental charity.
On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. Our aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.
Some of the top notch blogs that will participate are SEOMoz, Lifehacker, ProBlogger, ZenHabits, Copyblogger and many more.
This is a great idea and initiative – Green Blog has already registered our blog to participate and we really hope you will too. But, why stop at only talking and discussing the environment on one day? Why not go the whole way with your blog or website? Wouldn’t it be great if an majority of the participating blogs and sites moved to a green web host on or around October 15th? That would truly make an impact on people and especially web host companies.
So if you are going to participate in the Blog Action Day, don’t just talk about the environment – help save it by choosing a green web host.
The concept of
search engine optimization was initially introduced by the
advertising agencies, in order to take over the
website marketing arena online. Later it evolved into the presence concept of
internet network marketing. Later, there were more idea developments in the marketing plan. One of the first few packages was that of
adsense marketing. Later methods like
pay per click and inclusion came along.

Sustainable Websites offers web hosting powered by wind power from Renewable energy certificates (RECs). The green power is generated in the Mountain View Wind facility in San Gorgonio Pass, California. With its 111 wind turbines Mountain View can generate enough energy to power over 40000 homes in California.
By purchasing renewable energy certificates, we’re not only offsetting our own emissions of harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases, we’re participating in a community of responsible businesses and individuals. The income from REC’s goes towards either supporting existing wind turbine farms or developing new ones. We’re part of the solution - imagine if more people participated too! Even if less than 50% of the population participated, we would be well on our way to independence from imported fossil fuels.

Ask.com is a search engine company just like Google is but not that popular outside the USA. Now when that has been explained lets get to the point shall we?
Ask.com recently started to work with Dell, the computer company, to transform their current servers to more energy-efficient severs with the use of Dell’s Data center Solutions Division. Ask.com has said that these new servers will use 30 percent less energy than the old ones and still be able to perform the same tasks.
But the story doesn’t end at more energy-efficient severs. Ask.com has also, as the first corporate customer, joined Dells “Plant a Tree for Me” program. It is said that thanks to Ask.com thousands of trees will be planted.
This “Plant a Tree for Me” program is a partnership with the Conservation Fund and Carbonfund.org and non-profit organizations.

Global Warming.

Here is just a short shout out for people who, just like me, love to watch TV/Videos on your computer (who needs a TV anyways?).
Miro is a free open-source program that lets you download and watch videos, podcasts and even torrent files. Miro works on Macs, PCs and even on Linux.
Alright then, when you have downloaded Miro and installed it search for a High-Def channel called “KQED QUEST Science Video Podcast“. It’s a science video podcast (duh!?) that has some really nice green documentaries, in High-Definition, like “The Great Switch-Out”, “Napa Wineries Face Global Warming”, “From Waste To Watts: Biofuel Bonanza” and many others.
