  • One day has passed already and it seems that the G8 is proving us right ! Nothing is happening again ... just talking and formality... Nobody agree on how to involve developing countries in a tangible environmental plan ... Ahh tough to keep faith

    Aloha
  • I don't have much hope left...

I don't think world "leaders" will be able to agree on a climate plan during the talks in Copenhagen later this year. If they do, the climate plan will probably be far from what the science says needs to be done.
  • We will soon update this blog post with todays tweets, images and videos!
  • Thanks for informing us on the evolution of the G8 ! There is going to have a lot to say about it !
    Bravo
  • Joe the Public
"Only the G8 can agree on absolutely nothing, ignore the most pressing subjects and then claim a major breakthrough."
  • An agreement with a goal that isn't legally binding on any of the parties and that doesn't state how that goal will be achieved... that's how I heard it characterized on a news report today on NPR.

Sounds to me like more hot air...
  • Yes. I would say they have achieved nothing. Nothing but talking!
  • Yep ! Talking is basically a synonym of politicians ! They exactly say what we want to hear ... at the same time we have to believe in them because we need international collaborations and regulations for avoiding to reproduce the same mistakes ...
It is not that easy to establish common ground when there is not really an international legal entity. Plus when you are a leader of a country, you know so many internal issues that you cannot tell and forget while collaborating. Everybody is secretly defending their interests; if there was more real transparency in politics it might be easier for all of us to know where the leaders come from, and to feel involved ...
Politics constitute an environment which needs new plans to be credible and efficient ... easy to say harder to do ! Oh I could be a great politician ;)
