Letterman rants about global warming on his show in early September saying “We’re Dead Meat”. He also talks with Thomas Friedman about his new book titled “Hot, Flat, and Crowded - Why We Need a Green Revolution - And How it Can Renew America”.

It’s sad but I fear Letterman is right. Green marketing is everywhere right now, but it doesn’t seem like too many folks are actually changing their lifestyles.
If anything, the best chance to stop global warming is the high price of oil. Folks will figure out alternatives just to make things cheaper and hopefully something will take off.

I do worry about the lack of political will to develop alternative energy solutions. We have the technology and the knowledge…maybe China or India develop and implement the necessary solutions….someone needs to! Sustainability is about living within our means today AND planning for the future, so future generations can have a decent quality of life.
Letterman is funny, however I believe he is right as well. Though I am not sure if I am as pessimistic as he is. But we do need to stop puttong things on the back burner and start acknowleding what we really need to be doing. Even if it is hard to do. Sometimes the right things to do are the hardest, like dependancy on oil. The only way of truly limiting your impact when traveling is to walk!! But that is highly unlikely when people drive to the mailbox.
Yes we’re toasted meat, and unfortunately most people aren’t changing their behaviors unless it hurts their pocket (more people started biking to work and carpooling after gas prices hit record highs). I’m trying to figure out a way to encourage people to take action now and live greener, any great ideas that has worked out there?!!
